I still have my full time job as an attorney, so I usually write on the train commute to and from my office in Manhattan. On the weekends I get up early, around six, and write for several hours until the family is up. I’ll also write at night on the weekends. If I’ve got a deadline that’s imminent, I may also write at night after dinner, but generally don’t like to do that since that is family time and I’m usually bushed after a full day of work.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I watch television or videos while I write. I am very visually oriented and find that doing so will often help me describe how a character is moving or behaving physically. I usually pick shows or movies that will help me get in the mood for what I am writing.
How long would you say it takes you to write a book?
I normally take about two months to write a category length novel. For a longer single title, I spend about three months on the novel. This doesn’t include the time I spend thinking up the plot of the novel or doing any research. That’s usually done in advance of my actually sitting down to write the novel. Creating the plot and doing the research will often take anywhere from one to two weeks.
Thank you for answering my questions Caridad!! I wish you luck on your new books release!

6 Hoppy Thoughts:
Great interview chick! Just finished this one too. 3 months to write a book... I mean she's like a book writing machine!
I finishedthis one today at work..
It was GREAT!! I can't wait for the others in this series.
Thank you all for dropping by! Yes, my friends accuse me of being a vampire and secretly staying up all night to write. LOL. I guess I'm just very focused when I sit down to write. I also visualize the scene first in my head, usually while I'm walking or write before going to sleep. This way when I sit down to write, the scene has already been written in my head.
This is a great interview. I am thinking that your train ride must be fairly long in the morning!
I just picked Sins of the Flesh up on Sunday, and I hope to devour it Tomorrow!
Wow, Caridad, you are one busy lady... you put me to shame as I can't ever seem to catch up on my work :) I enjoyed reading your interview :)
Great Interview! I learned new things about Caridad. Thanks :D
